Hi guys...I'm writing this from France, but have to top up our English trip with a note about Bath. Dirk and I decided by Thursday, maybe, that we should probably hire a car and do the Bath trip. We had explored Ar undel pretty well by then and our energies were restored. So we hired the car and practised driving to get used to the roads, by exploring our immediate area. Then we got up early took off next day to Bath. The country is lovely in England...very green and rolling hills when you can get away from the built up areas. Every few miles you go through small settlements with unbelievable old houses and inns making me think of Bronte' novels. Bath is a really old small city, where in the past few hundred years, you went there to "take the waters" if you were well heeled. That means - to spend your mornings in the newly restored (for then) spa baths that the Romans built in around 100 AD or so. Young ladies went there (to Bath) to be introduced to 'society' and debut. (Not frolic in the spas with all the good old boys!)

We had a good time there, and got on a bus to check out the sights.
Here are some pics of the Roman Baths
We spent a couple of hours here, then got into the car to head off to see Stonehenge, which was a bit of a drag because we got into a traffic jamb which took two hours off our schedule. Consequently we were too late to get to Stonehenge to be able to "go through the fence' which was ludicrous, because you can see the thing on the other side anyway! You pay about 12 pounds to get in, which allows you to walk around it, but you can't go near it or walk in through the stones. How mad! So we took photos from the other side of the fence, and saved the money!
Somehow it looks smaller than you would expect from all the romantic images you see on the telly!
We left England on Saturday and arrived in Limoux, France after an exhausting day travelling.
See next blog.
Love this blog guys!!!!!
