The last days of London

We feel that we have done as much as we could be expected to do in the last few days....our legs are aching and  the years are showing!!!  We did manage to get to see the British Museum....which was pretty amazing....and a short visit to the National Gallery..  I took a lot of photos at the British Museum and covered as much ground as possible, within the couple of hours we were there.  But you can't see it all in one visit...you need at least two days to see all of it...and even then it would be a cursory look.

We've traveled about on the buses to be able to get a grip on the layout of tthe city...starting to feel like I can get a sense of direction.  I won't go into a blow by blow account as it's just too much information and yes, turning into a blur now.  We have seen Buck Palace, the Changing of the Guards, etc. Today I saw the interior of Westminster Abbey at last.  Grimy old place, but the architecture truly amazing, considering it was built 1000  years ago.  How did they do it?? with the technology they had back then.  I'll bet it would be impossible for us to build now.

Dirk propped outside, feeling like he'd rather save the $18 pounds entry fee instead, and reading his new book on Keith Richard's "Life" which is proving to be an entertaining  diversion for him.  I'm the culture vulture and even though I have spent the last week combing London for the museums, will not be satiated until I'm back home.

Tomorrow we get on a train at Victoria Station and head down south to 'our country retreat' Arundel. Hopefully enclosed is a little bit of film I took of us having yet another tipple at Trafalgar Square...this is turning into a pub crawl!!! But who can resist  English pubs ?
