Certaldo Festival

So again, in the last week, we went to a few places in the area with participants who were into it too.  And that was nearly all.  (I am writing this at least a week after the events, and am currently in Athens, but things are moving so fast, and internet connections so sparsely available, its been too hard to keep a regular posting happening).

I will put a few pics up of our trips to Certaldo  at a festival which is held every year, and is a celebration of art through music, craft, theatre and local culture.  It was a balmy, magical evening with a full moon overseeing the festivities, all set in the old "cite"of Certaldo.  This is yet another ancient village, (common as muck, really) close to La Meridiana called Certaldo Alto...the top of the town.  I would love to include a little bit of film footage I took of some of the events but it would take all night to upload.  Heck, it takes a while just to upload one photo!  So here goes...with a few explanatory notes.  I wish you could have been there with us.

The following three pictures were of a threesome who were so interesting to watch...they used black, white and red fabric drapery to adorn themselves in multiple changes to depict famous paintings from the Renaissance.  They would place themselves into the positions and then....strike the pose! for about 30 seconds and all the photo takers like me would go wild.  Just wonderful stuff.

This guy was hilarious

I set the camera at automatic and snapped away whenever I saw anything that just had to be recorded.  I don't use flash much either, but you should get the drift.  This was a photographer's dream of a night.  Truly, never to be forgotten.

Next blog will be San Gemigniano
