Day 2 - Forays out to see the sights

After arriving and sharing a few celebratory ales, ((I'm lying...it was champagne, too much!) we had to do some recovery sleeping and getting ourselves set up in our accommodation in Notting Hill.  Our digs here and in France are thanks to Gretchen and Scotty Lloyd-Davies, who have let us stay gratis, and will be given use of our place in Oz to repay the favour....any time they want.!!
The London flat is just about fifty from Portobello Road, a popular market street...where good fresh food is available most days, along with all manner of things to buy..  There was a huge crowd on Saturday, shown a little later on here, as we wandered through on our way out to see a bit of London.
We  walked across to Hyde Park  to find the nearest museum which was the Victoria and Albert where we saw rooms like this:  This room shows CASTS of the originals which come from other places like Rome and churches and galleries from all over.  Part of the GREAT PLUNDERING.  The place is huge, and we only saw a small fraction of the collection, due to our jet lag kicking in.  Along the way there though, we passed the Royal Albert Hall, where, Dirk informed me - he had seen Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and Jethro Tull, all part of the amazing scene back in the early 70's.  Lucky sod.  London isn't like that now....nothing of that energy seems to be here anymore.  Fashion is mundane, as is the music although the new migrant populations are infusing the place with some colour and food varieties which is all good.
