We have flown the coop

Hey there all who decide to keep up with us on this blog site...I hope to be able to keep it as a diary of what we get up to for my own accounts and to keep track of things.  Dirk and I intend a long excursion through
England, France, Italy, Greece and Turkey, so it will be exhausting, but you can dip in and out to see where we are up to, rather than me updating you in emails.which gets confusing as to what was sent to whom and when.  It's my indulgence, this, but right now, self indulgence seems to be the go.!!

Leaving for this holiday has been a long time coming and at last, we have made the jump and landed here in good ole England, a place I have always wanted to visit.  It's exactly as I thought it to be...the Poms are a good natured lot and I feel very much at home here.  The pubs are musty and intimate, (especially the ones that look like 16th century relics) the food a pleasant surprise (thanks Jamie Oliver) as it's abundant, of excellent quality and variety and relatively cheap.

The architecture is pretty amazing....a mix of the grand old and the grand new.  I guess when the great fire of 1666 burnt all the buildings down not much was left of the old London, and then after rebuilding, the Blitz took care of a lot more besides.  So you see a lot of modern buildings....some absolutely fantastic, alluding to the old ones in style and really modern interpretations of them.

This is my first attempt at blogging, so if there's sequence issues, it's because I'm still trying to work out how to do this.  So welcome to those who check us out....it will be kept up to date as often as I can.
